The Holy Name of Mary Food Fund, which finances Le Foyer des Filles de Dieu in Haiti was founded by Frank Chauvin, winner of Canadian Civil Rights League’s, CCRL, 2009 Archbishop Adam Exner Award for Catholic Excellence in Public Life. Frank also launched a court challenge to the nomination of Henry Morgentaler to the Order of Canada. Recently he’s been interviewed by the media in the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake. He appeared on Canada AM and The Toronto Star ran an article about his work in Haiti. Interestingly, not one article mentioned Frank’s pro-life work, or the fact that he has returned his Order of Canada medal, even though it was stated in the press release sent to the Canadian media.

If you were to ask our teenage children who their heroes are, you’ll probably get answers like Batman, Superman, Spiderman and a long list of people from the world of sports and entertainment. Should you mention the name of Cardinal Renato Martino, your kids are sure to give you puzzled look, as if to say who are you talking about? Who is he? And yet, this person should be well known and admired in Christian families.

After reading a recent article from Lifesite.com on the Twilight vampire tales and its occult content, I decided that it was time to write about it as well. In so doing, I hope to help bring about greater occult awareness in Canadian society. There are several forms of occult elements that exist in Canada and I will try to tackle some of them with future posts.
