We have a special event to pray for and to rejoice about as the Year Of Faith, Porta Fidei, approaches. She was known for her chastity and her purity. Our young people will soon have another saint as the perfect model for their lives in serving Christ.  In less than two months, Canada and the Unites States will be able to call the first Native American not just Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha but, Saint Keteri Tekakwitha. Alleluia! Alleluia! The canonization will take in Rome on October 21, 2012. The celebrant will be Pope Benedict XVI.

Kateri was the daughter of a Mohawk warrior. Her mother died from smallpox when Katerina was only four years old. The sickness took her father's life. She too got sick with the deadly virus and it distorted her looks.

The situation at the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) in promoting equity and inclusive education has really gone off the moral rails. The board has produced a series of posters to create so-called "Safe and Positive Spaces", but in doing so has it has also possibly crossed the line into promoting the acceptance, along with a dozen different sexual orietations, the practice of polygamy.

Americans in a couple of months, on November 2, 2012, will vote to choose a president and a new government. As in most elections, in Canada, the United States and the entire West, the Republicans and the Democrats are talking about the usual issues: the economy, unemployment, education, the environment, social security and health care.

This September Catholic teachers received a letter from their President, Kevin O'Dwyer emplaning why OECTA, the Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association, had signed a contract with the Liberal government.

Recently, The Institute of Marriage and Family Canada, published an Open Letter to the Minister of Education on the issue of modernizing childcare. Everyday for Life Canada fully supports the letter because policy  changes that are being made to childcare are not always in the best interests of children and families. To provide a more balanced and truly constructive view of the issue we need to move beyond government bureaucratic talk, and so we post the letter in its entirety.

The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops on September 18, 2012, released a Statement on Motion 312. As Catholics, we believe that life begins at conception and ends with natural death. Canadian law presently states that we are not human beings until birth. We know that this is morally wrong, and it's this "legal lie" that allows and pays with tax money for over 100,000 thousand abortions a year in Canada.

There are recent Toronto media reports that "land mines are being planted" in our schools. It's all coming from "extremist parents" also referred to as Christian conservatives. The same article says it's "a weird cabal consisting of extreme religionists and troubled people is attempting to subvert our public school system". To defend parental rights in Ontario, has become a "sinister plot".

Last Friday, September 14, the Church celebrated the feast as it does each year of the Exaltation of the Cross. The cross reminds us of the Resurrection. It's the ultimate and perfect example of the gift of life. From the cross, comes life's true significance and perfect happiness. Through the cross, we were all freely given the ultimate example of love and sacrifice.

The meaning of the cross that began nearly two thousand years has withstood the test of time.

A court case was filed recently against the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board by a father who claims that his parental rights have been suppressed in the name of “Equity”. It's now three years that many Ontario parents have been battling to protect their children from the Equity and Inclusive Education Strategy and Bill 13. Given the government's unyielding stand, it has now ended in legal proceedings.

Video games started as a novelty in the early seventies with the first commercially successful products called Pong and Computer Space. In 1979,  Pac-Man was released and Centipede in 1980. Today's manipulative and sophisticated video games are no longer something new or mere amusement. These games continue to play a part in shaping and defining our culture; they have also become big business. And where huge profits are at stake you can be sure that morals and truth are sacrificed.

See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity; I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
