On April 27, 2010, Plan Canada released this press statement which makes it clear that they support abortion and a woman's "right" to have access to abortion. Here's the statement:

Every year nine million women around the world watch as their children die from painful, preventable illnesses that often cost dimes, not dollars, to treat. Hundreds of thousands more women die in childbirth because they lack access to dependable health care close to home.

For groups like ours, who are working to make a difference in the lives of these millions of women and children, the upcoming G8 in Canada provides an historic opportunity to chart a course out of this desperate terrain.

One of the best ways to celebrate the canonization of Saint John Paul II and Saint John XXIII is to read what they wrote and try to follow their example in living the Christian life. In 1980, John Paul II released his second encyclical called, Dives in Misericordia, the Latin words mean "Rich in Mercy." The document's theme is that human beings need God's mercy and that we must also be merciful and forgiving in our relationships with others.

In a Vatican meeting, on April 11, with leaders of the International Catholic Child Bureau, Pope Francis stated, “I feel called to take responsibility for all the evil some priests—large in number, but not in proportion to the total—have committed and to ask forgiveness for the damage they’ve done with the sexual abuse of children." He went on to say, “The Church is aware of this damage and is committed to strengthening child protection programs and punishing offenders."

This was the first time

On April 27, Divine Mercy Sunday, a celebration instituted by John Paul II, Pope Francis will canonize two former popes: Saint John Paul II and Saint John XXIII. The canonization of these two faithful men of the Church is also a great celebtation for everyone believer and non-believer alike. These two news saints will continue to spiritually enrich the Church with the example they gave the world in living the faith. They are a souce of hope and love for all of us.

There are a number of countries around the world that celebrate on March 25th, the International Day of the Unborn Child. It's to acknowledge the inherent human dignity of the unborn child. Pro-life advocates marked the day with marches, liturgies, demonstrations, and events to demonstrate support for laws and policies that protect the unborn child from abortion and offer care and support for his or her mother.

To remember the evening of the Lord's Supper, Holy Thursday, we share with

you this meditation written by St. Thomas Aquinas, a Domenican priest and great doctor of the Church. He also wrote the hymn Pange Lingua which which is sung as

the Blessed Sacrament is taken in procession in the church to a place of repose.

Here's the meditation followed by a recording of the hymn:

It was most fitting that the Sacrament of the Body of the Lord should have been instituted at the Last Supper.

We would like to share two brief reflections as the liturgy celebrates Passion Palm/Sunday and we enter Holy Week. One is written by Erasmo Leiva-Merikakis Erasmo Leiva-Merikakis, now known as Father Simeon. He's a Cistercian monk of St. Joseph’s Abbey, Spencer, MA.

The Canadian Guidelines for Sexual Health Education is just another example of how even our federal government is spreading propaganda about human sexuality. If children don't get indoctrinated in schools, Canada's government is making sure its done through their policies and guidelines on sexual health. Here are the two stated goals for sexual health education:

See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity; I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
