It's encouraging to see that there are more groups and community voices speaking up against the proposed sex education curriculum being introduced by the Liberal government. Last night, I was one of the three guests on Sur Sagar TV and Radio discussing Premier Kathleen Wynne's intention to bring back the withdrawn explicit sex education curriculum for Ontario elementary students. The program host was Rana Sidnu. Along with myself there were two other guests: Harkirat Singh, a trustee for Wards 9, 10 in the Peel District School Board and Jotvinder Sodhi, a community activist. The live broadcast was done in both Punjabi and English.

World Meeting of Families 2015: creating the future, Part V

It's in marriage that we bring new life into the world. Children are formed by their families and they in turn will shape the future. No family or nation has a future without children. A civilization of love and life is founded on loving families. Good and happy children are the hope of tomorrow. It's families that are the foundation of parish communities, the larger society and the Universal Church.

In this post, to add to the series of entries on the World Meeting of Families 2015, we would like to examine how parishes can use this wonderful world event to evangelize in their own communities and at the same strengthen the spiritual life of the faithful.

The first thing that parishes must try to do is to be informed as to what's happening in the Universal Church and in their own dioceses.

Nearly two weeks ago over a million people, along with with many political leaders, marched together in Paris to show solidarity against the terrorist attacks that took place in the offices of the magazine Charlie Hebdo and a Jewish supermarket. To unite with the people of France and with families that lost loved ones that worked for the satirical magazine, the slogan “Je Suis Charlie”—“I am Charlie” was quickly adopted in France and by countless citizens from Western nations.

World Meeting of Families: Two become one flesh, Part IV

As we continue our series on the 2015 edition of the World Meeting of Families, in this posting we will focus on the idea that for Christians marriage is a sacrament. God didn't create the human person to be alone. Man and woman need one another and together they become "one flesh" for the kingdom. Through friendship and community we find those bonds that bring us together and satisfy our need to belong.

There's an important piece of news information that every parent in this province ought to know because it affects every child attending Ontario schools. It should be front page news in every major Ontario newspaper, television newscast and online new service, but for many reasons and some of them political it won't. The story with the exception of Sun News reporter Faith Goldy has gone largely unnoticed.

Christian marriage: a personal testimony

For a number of years, my wife and I, were part of a group of married couples presenting the marriage preparation course for couples that intended to get married in the Catholic Church. The contents of the program covered the following topics: finances, prayer, Theology of the Body, children, natural family planning, human sexuality and intimacy, marriage as a sacrament, conflict management and forgiveness, communication and spirituality of marriage.

As the Ontario government gets ready to bring back the radical sex education curriculum for Ontario's children, here are ten reasons why parents should reject it in spite of the political correctness propaganda that supports it.

1. Children don't need to know all the mechanics of sex before they are emotionally, physically, intellectually and spiritually old enough to understand what they are being taught.

The Meaning of Human Sexuality, Part III

We live in a post-modern culture that has in many ways radically changed the meaning of human sexuality. The very idea that today the United Nations and Western governments would be pushing for the legal recognition of "reproductive rights" and "sexual rights" was inconceivable for most people just over a generation ago. The predominant contemporary view of the person is defined by the physical, feelings and through self-identity.

At the Paris based newspaper Charlie Hebdo twelve people were massacred. An Al-Qaeda Yemen based group has admitted to killing those who were connected to Charlie Hebdo. In a separate incident that took place in a kosher market, four people were taken hostage and then murdered. A policewoman was also killed. In just days, seventeen innocent people have senselessly and brutally been killed along with three terrorists.

See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity; I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
