The Liberal budget will give the national broadcaster the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, CBC, an added $150,000,000 per year for the next five years. It already receives well over $1,000,000,000 every year from our taxes. The former Conservative government had reduced funding for CBC, but the Liberals who got positive coverage during the federal election have now reversed any attempt to make the CBC economically and morally more responsible. Are Canadians getting their money's worth? No. Why does the CBC have to have two television channels and two radio stations across the country? Because they have a lot of taxpayers' money to spend pretty much as they want.

I would be willing to support a state broadcaster if it truly represented all the people of Canada.

This is Holy Week. It's a time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. It's a time of penance. It's a special time to thank, praise God and humbly attend the liturgical services. It's a time to celebrate Christ's victory over death, sin and evil. To help you celebrate Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter, I would like to share with you part of the Easter Vigil homily ( I hope you read the entire homily) that Pope Benedict XVI gave on Holy Saturday, April 23, 2011.

We in the West and our leaders should listen and heed this speech. It was recently given by the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban and titled, "Christianity, not a Caliphate." He was addressing members of the Fidesz conservative party that he represents. The party has been in power since 2010. His talk covers many political, economic, social and spiritual issues that Hungary faces, but he also looks at the current problems the European Union must address if it's to have a future.

After having lived for most of life in Canada, it's sad to have to admit that my Canadian citizenship has become next to meaningless to me. This is not an easy statement to make. Canada has undergone and continues to change into a society that is no longer about protecting life, family and morality. It's a country that has lost its faith. Canada is a nation whose laws promote and permit a secular culture that worships death more with every passing day.

Everyday for Life Canada isn’t a political blog. However, when moral, freedom and faith issues are undermined or attacked by bad laws and misinformation it's our duty to speak up. Silence isn’t an option. So, we have paid some attention to the upcoming American election this year as both parties the Republicans and the Democrats select a leader for the November vote.

The long efforts of two organizations In Defense of Christians and the Knights of Columbus along with Congressman Jeff Fontenberry and Congresswoman Anna Eshoo and other supporters who signed a petition have succeeded in having the United States House of Representatives formally recognize that the violence against Christians and other minorities by ISIS is genocide. The White House is now being encouraged to do likewise.

Douglas Farrow who is a professor of Christian Thought at McGill University has written a very passionate Open Letter urging the Catholic Church and all people of good will in Canada to say no to euthanasia.

Recently a video called, "By the Numbers: The Untold Story of Muslim Opinions and Demographics" was released. It's an effort to get information out about the Muslim world and its relationship with the West and the rest of the world. It's a frank attempt to begin a discussion regarding Muslim thinking and demographics. It's narrated by Raheel Raza who is president of Muslims Facing Tomorrow (MFT).

Everyday for Life Canada has done several posts warning parents about the early sexualization of children in Canadian schools. The process has begun in earnest as provinces move to implementing comprehensive sex "education" (CSE) programs. In Ontario, the radical sex curriculum can be found in the Health and Physical Education course issued in early 2015. Other provinces have their own programs. In America, Planned Parenthood and the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the U.S.

In 2008 the Soviet dissent, author and Nobel prize winner Alexander Solzhenitsyn died. He spent eight long years in the harsh Soviet Gulag system for having had the courage to openly criticize the state. In 1974, he was exiled for his writings and went to live in the United States until he was allowed to return to Russia in 1994.

See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity; I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
