During the month of August as we have done in recent years, we won't post any new entries. We will take a holiday to do more reading, praying and resting. And most importantly to thank God. Given what is happening in the world today, there is much praying, fasting, penance and almsgiving to be done.

This is Our Lady of Medjugorje's latest message to us all for July 25, 2016:

“Dear children! I am looking at you and I see you lost; and you do not have prayer or joy in your heart. Return to prayer, little children, and put God in the first place and not man. Do not lose the hope which I am carrying to you. May this time, little children, every day, be a greater seeking of God in the silence of your heart; and pray, pray, pray until prayer becomes joy for you.

Recently, my wife and I decided to write an Open Letter to Cardinal Thomas Collins. In the face of numerous cases, in Canada, that discriminate against the freedom of conscience and religious liberty, we felt that we had speak up. We were thinking of the recent Ontario Court of Appeal decision to uphold the ban by the Law Society of Upper Canada on future law graduates from Trinity Western University from being licenced to work in the province of Ontario.

Recently, I met with a friend who highly recommended the book, What We Can't Not Know: A Guide. I finished reading the insightful text just weeks ago, and I agree with him completely. It's a book worth reading more than once and studying too. In an age of moral relativism and political correctness, the book offers the perfect antidote.

There are countless books out there about religion, ethics and philosophy.

Not long ago, I finished reading Cardinal Robert Sarah's insightful book titled, God or Nothing. The text brought to mind two other great spiritual books; The Priest is Not His Own by Fulton Sheen and The Cure d'Ars: St. Jean-Marie-Baptiste Vianney by Abbe Francois Trochu.

God or Nothing is an autobiographical interview that uses the format of questions and answers. The book covers many topics faced by believers in giving witness today to the Christian faith.

In Canada, the evil door to abortion opened in 1969 with the Omnibus Bill C-150 and in the United States that same door swung ajar with Roe v Wade in 1973. Forty-seven years later in Canada and 43 in America and we still can't have a serious debate about this important moral issue. Millions of unborn babies have been intentionally killed since the legalization of abortion. The killing of innocent continues unabated to this present day.

Do you remember the pope that used the expression Totus Tuus to define his pontificate? It was St. John Paul II who used the Latin words that in English mean "totally thine" to consecrate his pontificate to Jesus through Mary, the Mother of Christ. He wanted to put everything he did in the hands of Mary, following the spiritual tradition of St. Louis de Montfort. She would bring him to Christ. St.

Do parents want to know about the moral dangers of the new radical sex curriculum in Ontario schools? And the harm it can cause to our children and our society? If the answer is yes, you need to watch this video. It's a short speech given by sociologist Gabriele Kuby in Stuttgart, Germay on April 5, 2014. The reader can also choose to just read the speech; it's reprinted in this post. Kuby is a German writer and sociologist. Her writings have been published in many countries.

(Readers note: The following review was written by Charles Lewis, a regular contributor to The Catholic Register and a board member of the Catholic Civil Rights League (CCRL). It was first published by CCRL. Mr. Lewis has been writing for 36 years.

Yesterday's editorial, "Parent's battle is about freedom to choose" in the Hamilton Spectator by psychiatrist Nadine Nyhus, makes the correct and just argument in support of Steve Tourloukis. Tourloukis is the father who has been in court for four years defending his parental rights and Charter right to religious freedom. A hearing was finally held last Thursday in a Hamilton courtroom about Tourloukis' case. There were six lawyers arguing against parental rights and religious freedom.

Courtesy of Real Women of Canada, we reprint this article form their July 2016 newsletter. It's titled, "Why Don't Homosexuals Solve Their Own Problems?" "One of the things you can do to stop HIV is to stop the stigma that is associated with having the infection." This last sentence is a quote from Ontario's revised 2015 sex curriculum instructing children in Grade 7. Why change the "teaching" for gonorrhea and syphilis. It's not about stop having dangerous sex.

See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity; I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
