Newly city-designed packaging for condoms are to be pushed by Toronto's Public Health (THP) to promote "safe sex." We are told to be proud of this progressive initiative as Torontonians. I'm not. "Safe sex" is even linked to muliculturalism, equality and diversity. During the most recent 2015 Pan Am Games held in Toronto, there were 288,000 condons given out with a design that featured running shoes, bicycles and the slogan "Let the games begin." One need not wonder much as to what kind of "games" are to begin. The important message from Toronto is this: "Remember to use a new condom every time you have oral, anal or vaginal sex." No distinction must be made as to the higher risk of anal sex or of connecting sex to anything else but pleasure. We must not discriminate.

For adults who want to learn more about the faith and how to better live it, there is the wonderful and very practical resource called, Magnificat. According to their website, it's "a spiritual guide to help you develop your prayer life, grow in your spiritual life, find a way to a more profound love for Christ, and participate in the holy Mass with greater fervor." We have been using the guide for many years.

At a time in Canada when Christian values and beliefs are under attack and discriminated against, we welcome this timely article published in the July/August issue of Canada's pro-life and pro-family newspaper The Interim. It's written by John Carpay, a Calgary lawyer and president of the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms. We thank The Interim editor Paul Tuns for permission to reprint it.

See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity; I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
