The recent attack on Professor Jordan Peterson's right to free speech should seriously concern Canadians. Peterson has refused to comply with the proposed law,

Bill C-16, and the University of Toronto's diversity policies that force everyone to recognize "gender neutral pronouns" and "gender self-identity."

If the law is passed and enforced, Canada's freedom of speech and thought will continue to diminish. The state and the Human Rights Commissions will have more legal control over what we can say, think and do. The language used in these laws misleads Canadians because we are told that the issue is about a progressive human sexuality, "diversity" and gender. It's not. The legislation puts limits on the freedom of speech and freedom of conscience. They re-shape thought.

Last night the Catholic Civil Rights League held their annual general meeting at Holy Rosary Parish. The evening began with the celebration of Mass, followed by the meeting and concluded with guest speaker George Weigel.

The president of the League, Phil Horgan summarized some of the work done in the past year. This included intervening with Bill 14, the euthanasia law, in an effort to protect patients and the conscience rights of doctors.

Let's send a strong message to Wynne's Liberal government that nobody elected them to strip away the words "mother" and "father" from birth certificates. The government is changing the words in order to normalize and indoctrinate the rest of the population about the practice of surrogacy. The majority of Ontarians should not be denied their rights in order to accommodate the few. Bill 28, if passed, discriminates against all parents who want their children to know who is their mother and father.

Want to know the kind of sexual activity that Ontario's 2015 radical sex curriculum will bring in the future? Here's one very sad example. University students competed for team points doing daring and degrading sexual acts. This is what students at the University of Ottawa did recently for the annual pub crawl. The event was reported in the student newspaper La Rotonde. The writer Yasmine Mehdi has been criticized and even threatened for exposing the story.

On September 23, 2016, Hungarian foreign minister Peter Szijjarto gave a speech at the United Nations to inform other countries that his nation would be establishing an office to address the issue of persecuted Christians in the Middle East. This is a small development but a hopeful sign that can bring an end to the violance and killing.

We don't know who will win the American presidential election on November the 8th. What we do know is that the election has shown just how morally low we have sunk in the West, for all to see. The United States has been one of the strongest and richest nations in the world. It has been reduced to choosing for the highest office in the land either Democrat Hillary Clinton or Republican Donald Trump.

Instead of addressing issues such as the $300,000,000,000 debt that Ontario now faces, the Wynne Liberals are trying to subvert the traditional "family" structure because it doesn't suit what the LGTB activists want. The proposed Bill 28, An Act to Amend the Children's Law Reform Act, is being rushed into law with little debate or consultation.

On Saturday, I attended an excellent one day spiritual retreat for men. It took place in Port Perry at the Immaculate Conception Church with close to 100 men in attendance. The day of reflection was called, "Be a Man: Exercise your Spiritual Fatherhood." The day began with confessions followed by the recitation of the Rosary and Holy Mass. After this, the participants listened to the first talk. At noon the Angelus was prayed.

Yesterday, in front of the University of Toronto's Sidney Smith Hall an important rally was held to defend freedom of speech and freedom of conscience in Canada. Two of the speakers at the event were Professor Jordan Peterson and journalist Lauren Southern. A number of other students also spoke to the crowd. More about the rally later.

Everyday for Life Canada has already posted an entry about Professor Peterson's rejection of political correctness.

See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity; I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
