Whether you know about it or not the Liberal federal government headed by Prime Minister Trudeau, with little discussion and no public consultation, has passed Bill C-16, An Act to Amend the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code. They did it without a recorded vote. The legislation is now before the Senate. Here's a summary of the new law:

This enactment amends the Canadian Human Rights Act to add gender identity and gender expression to the list of prohibited grounds of discrimination.

After over four years, the court case between Dr. Steve Tourloukis, a Christian father and the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, finally came to a sad end yesterday. The decision is nothing less than a death blow to parental rights in the province. Let me say this at the start. I'm the chair of the Parental Rights in Education Defence Fund. Our organization has been helping to pay the legal cost of the court case that has so far reached $70,000.

This Advent 2016 Everyday for Life Canada shares with its readers four powerful meditations. The reflections were written in prison. This spiritual journey will come from an inspiring book we have been reading called, Prison Writings by the German Jesuit priest Fr. Alfred Delp. He was arrested by Gestapo officers after saying Mass on July 28, 1944. On February 2, 1945, Fr. Delp was hanged in Plotzensee, a prison in Berlin, for crimes against the Rich.

A number of stories have been published suggesting that fake news and articles on Facebook could have affected the final outcome of the 2016 American election. This is hard to prove.

This Sunday, November 20, in  celebration of the Feast of Christ the King, we post the beautiful hymn of thanksgiving, "Te Deum." Pope Pius XI who instituted this annual liturgical Solemnity to mark the end of the Holy Year of 1925. In his encyclical Quas Primas, the Pope writes, "It was a great joy, a great consolation, that filled Our heart when in the majestic basilica of St.

Britain, referred to as Brexit, voted to exit the European Union. Donald Trump, a political outsider, has been elected the 45th president of the United States. Predictions from the so called "experts" and mainstream media got the results of these two events totally wrong. Brexit and the election of Trump are sure to influence world relations, employment opportunities, currency evaluations, trade, the economy and more, including how we think.

A statement attacking Catholic teaching on human reproduction was recently released by an anti-Catholic organization which calls itself Catholic. This statement was adopted at the United Nations Populations Fund (UNFPA).

This coming Sunday the Jubilee Year of Mercy will come to an end with the Feast of Christ the King. Pope Pius XI closed a Holy Year and instituted for the occasion this liturgical celebration. The pope wished to mark the special year, as he writes in his encyclical, Quas Primas, with the new Feast of Christ the King. The document was issued on December 11, 1925.

The 2016 presidential election is finally over.  God willing, come January 2017, Donald Trump will be the 45th president of the United States. We know that, like the rest of us both candidates have flaws.

As Canadians, what do we really remember this Remembrance Day? Take the expression, “Lest we Forget,” that we often use and hear to honor those soldiers that went to battle to defend Canada. Do you know that the phrase has little to do with remembering the wars and those that died? The words are taken from a poem written by Rudyard Kipling for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897. The poem is called “Recessional.” It's actually a hymn or an ode that can be sung to music.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
