In this entry, we re-print with permission an article titled, "Not My Canada, Mr. Trudeau" written by Catholic blogger, singer and preacher Mark Mallett. His efforts to evangelize through music, song and talks are worth supporting. At a time when the culture of death keeps expanding and the attacks on the family increase, we need a faithful witness of the faith. Everyday for Life Canada thanks Mark Mallett for allowing us to post it. We have divided the article into two parts. Also, make sure to watch the sad and moving video titled, "The Passion of the Unborn" at the end of this entry. This is part one:

NOT MY CANADA, MR. TRUDEAU FOR several months, I have grappled with whether or not I should file taxes to the Canadian government this year.

In this post, we re-print with permission, part two, of an article titled, "Not My Canada, Mr. Trudeau" written by Catholic blogger, singer and preacher Mark Mallett. His efforts to evangelize through music, song and talks are worth supporting. At a time when the culture of death keeps expanding and the attacks on the family increase, we need, more ethen ever, that faithful witness of the Word. Everyday for Life Canada thanks Mark Mallett for allowing us to post his work.

A recent poll done by Ipsos Public Affairs asked 1001 Canadians some questions about religion. Just about 51 percent of those who answered supported the idea that "religion does more harm in the world than good." The result marks a seven-point increase from a poll conducted in 2011. In addition, the poll found that only 22% believe that religion is important in shaping their politics.

For July 23, Sunday's Angelus address at St. Peter's Square, Pope Francis spoke about the day's Gospel and warned the listeners of calling any one person or organization bad or good because we're all sinners. Good and bad are intertwined together. But this should not stop us from recognizing sin and virtue and good and evil.

Bishop Thomas John Paprocki of the Diocese of Springfield, Illinois recently released a "Decree Regarding Same-sex marriage and related pastoral Issues." Because of the strong reaction, and even criticism, to the Decree, Bishop Paprocki has put out an explanation regarding his pastoral approach to Church teaching on marriage, abortion, same-sex "marriage" and who may receive Holy Communion.

In this entry, we post both the video and the transcript of the bishop's talk.

To Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau,

I'm sure that you are aware of the controversy as the Provincial Government of Ontario developed and implemented the controversial sex "education" curriculum starting in 2015-16. Premier Kathleen Wynne's government has refused to listen to parents who oppose the radical program and to respect their rights as parents.

When I was still teaching at the high school level, and it wasn't so along ago, parents were more respected and informed. A teacher has the responsibly to act in "Loco parentis," that is in "the place of the parent." I recall the two yearly trips to Stratford, Ontario to watch a Shakespearean play. We always filled a bus. Parents had to be informed and sign a permission slip allowing the student to travel with the group.

Today we post, with permission, an insightful essay titled, "The New Totalitarianism Laws of Canada." The article examines how recent legislation in Canada will restrict freedom of speech and further shape an anti-Christian society. A legal culture of death can destroy body, mind and soul. It's written by John Paul Meenan who is an Assistant Professor of Theology and Natural Science at Our Lady Seat of Wisdom in Barry's Bay, Ontario, Canada. He also edits and writes at Catholic Insight.

Often a spiritual song says more than words alone could ever capture. The lyric, "You Are Mine" by David Haas from his album "Glory Day" is a great example. It's a wonderful faith song to help us get closer to Jesus, for Sunday Mass and even prepare for the sacraments of baptism, confirmation and Holy Matrimony. Here now is the video, and we also post the words of the song.

We just finally watched Hacksaw Ridge … the Mel Gibson movie about Col. Doss … and it reminded me once again about our own American story …

Well let’s begin with the fact that my dad was taken prison of war in Libya by the Allies in 1943 … He had been in Libya working on a farm with his family and had been conscripted into the Italian army by the Fascists … He hadn’t seen much fighting, as far as I can remember, he told me this story so long ago.

See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity; I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
