We're grateful that we had the opportunity to participate in the Lenten Mass held today at the Canadian Food for Children warehouse on Lakeshore Blvd. It was celebrated by Monsignor Terence D’Souza’s ordination. Fr. D’Souza is a former Dufferin-Peel Roman Catholic District School Board trustee and founding pastor of the St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Mississauga. At the Mass, there were a number of students who had come with their teacher to volunteer for the day. It's a great way to prepare for Easter. Easter is the time to remember that Christ's sacrifice on the cross was an act of ultimate divine love for the redemption and salvation of humanity. Charity work is a small sharing in that love.

In the passion of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John, at one point Pilate asks Jesus, "Then you are a king?" Jesus responds, "You said I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice." But Pilate follows with another question, "What is the truth?"

It's this message about testifying, listening, defending and living the truth that Easter celebrates. Christ is the truth.

The best meditation I read during Lent this year comes from St. Peter of Alcantara. He was a Spanish Franciscan priest who lived in the 16th century. He was also the confessor for St. Teresa of Avila. It was St. Peter that  encouraged St. Teresa to establish the first monastery at Avila and gave her advice on reforming the Carmelite order. St. Teresa writes in her autobiography that St. Peter would often go for days, and sometimes a week, without eating.

On March 19, 2018, the vote was taken in the House of Commons on a Conservative motion to rectify the Liberal discrimination regarding the summer jobs government grants.

Guess what our feminist Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau forced the Liberals to do? To vote against the motion. The Liberal government will not fund any organizations, including faith-based ones, unless they support the Liberal position on abortion.

Kathleen Wynne's Ontario Liberal party doesn't deserve to get one seat in the upcoming provincial election this June 7th. Yes, not one seat. They have lost the privilege to govern and the trust of Ontarians. The Liberal government has been a total disaster for Ontario. Here are ten reasons for voters to say No, in the upcoming election, to Kathleen Wynne and the rest of the Liberals.

1. Parental rights in Ontario have not been respected during Wynne's leadership.

In Canada, Bill C-16, An Act to amend the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code legally protects "gender identity" and the use of "gender neutral" pronouns. Canadians can be charged with discrimination or hate speech for failing to recognize self-defined "gender identity and expression." The legislation serves to shut down debate and silence Canadians for fear of breaking the law.

Nevertheless, it's still a terrible law.

In an article currently posted by LifeSiteNews titled, "Vatican prepares to issue two documents on 'gender theory,'" one reader posted a telling comment that is worth sharing with others. It's also a warning of the physical and spiritual dangers inherent in transhumanism. With permission, we have used the response in its entirety for today's entry. Here it is:

Do we begin to get the sense of the Antichrist rising from the sea? I certainly do.

Zachary King, a former high wizard in a satanic church who converted to Catholicism through the miraculous intervention of the Blessed Mother, argues that abortion is a spiritual battle. To combat the evil effectively requires spiritual weapons. In a 2-disc CD titled, “Abortion is a Satanic Sacrifice,” King outlines the spiritual armaments needed to end abortion. (Warning: it’s a very dark and disturbing CD. So, be spiritually prepared.

The Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) recently passed a pro-life motion that should have been a normal thing. Not so today. Catholic teaching in Catholic schools has become a controversial issue. First a little history.

During Lent Catholic parishes in Toronto participate in Share Life. Catholic charitable social services go back to the 1850s when the diocese was established. Helping those in need has always been a central part of the Catholic faith.

Earlier this week, psychology professor Jordan Peterson spoke at Queen's University, in Kingston, Ontario. He has been on a tour promoting his latest book, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos. His talk was interrupted by protesters. There were 800 people that had come to listen to Peterson's presentation. Ironically, the topic was "The Rising Tide of Compelled Speech in Canada."

During the protest that lasted well over an hour, a stained glass window was broken.

See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity; I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
