Bishop warns that without Christianity we risk entering "a new dark age"
Bishop Philip Egan of the English Diocese of Portsmouth has issued a timely and practical Pastoral letter warning that we risk the coming of "a frightening new dark age." Christian morality and prayer are in decline throughout the West despite all the progress in technology and science. A good society rests on sound morals and ethics. Bishop Egan urges his readers to be people of life and love and to ask Jesus to help them accomplish this. He says that "It’s over fifty years since the 1967 Abortion Act, one of the most liberal in the world, came into effect. Since then, ten million babies in the UK have been aborted, one in five pregnancies.” Abortion and euthanasia encourage the culture of death ans society's death wish.
