In this post, we try to define the characteristics of a good homily, and then we post an example of a homily that teaches the faith and inspires action. A good homily should counter our post-truth and feelings rule times. More about this at the conclusion of this post.

What then makes for a good homily? One of the things that an effective homily should contain, but that is too often missing today, is doctrinal and catechetical content. The celebrant isn't there to make the congregation feel good, entertain them or make them laugh. The homily's focus ought to be the readings of the day. A good homily is built on prayer and the needed time to prepare it.

Canada's Supreme Court recently ruled that Law Societies in Canada can refuse accreditation to future graduates of Trinity Western University's proposed law program. The court challenge took place because Law Societies in Nova Scotia, Ontario and British Columbia had voted against accrediting TWU. Why? Because TWU is a Christian university and requires that its students sign a community covenant pledging to live chastely and recognizing that marriage is between a man and a woman.

Canada's government to support diversity and inclusion of the LGBTQ2 issues has given $770.000 to Eagle Canada. The organization gave Prime Minister Justin Trudeau the 2018 Egale Leadership Award.

The tax payer grant comes at a time when the Trudeau government has mandated that any group applying for Canada Summer Jobs program for 2018 must say yes to abortion in order to be considered to get funding.

It's official now. In Canada, by October of this year Canadians can legally buy marijuana. For this, we can thank the governing Justin Trudeau Liberal government. But don't be fooled by the fact that the government calls it, and the mainstream media repeat the slogan, "recreational use and sales". There is no such thing as recreational use of marijuana.

The elementary and high school Catholic teachers in Toronto have been sent an email from their union leaders inviting them to "Come Celebrate Toronto Pride". The message encourages teachers to walk in solidarity with their union representatives on June 25, 2018.

Will the Catholic union be marching in solidarity for the Kemptville chaplain who lost his position because he chose to defend Catholic teaching? We don't think so. Chaplaincy leaders are supposed to defend and teach the Catholic faith.

Have you seen the recent child abusive video called, "Talking to Kids about Pride Month"? It's the work of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) with host Jessi Cruickshank. If not, you should because Canadians through their taxes are paying for the cost of producing a video that  indoctrinates young minds about homosexuality. It's supposed to be about fun, Pride Month and sexual diversity, but it's really the sexual exploitation of innocent minds by adults paid by the CBC.

Last year the Ottawa public library had an agreement with Madeline Weld and Valerie Thomas permitting them to use the public facilities to screen a film documentary titled, Killing Europe. They were told that booking for the screening had been approved. The two sides had a rental contract. However, Weld was later contacted by the library's management and asked if the content violated either the Human Rights Code or the Criminal Code.

The Supreme Court of Canada (SCC) released a terrible decision against Christians today. Canadians who believe in the freedoms of religion, expression and association should be very concerned. The high court simply overruled the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Trinity Western University is a private Christian university in British Columbia.

Dear President Donald Trump,

We're writing to apologize for the spoiled behavior of our leader Prime Minister Justin Trudeau after the recent G-7 Summit. Rest assured that his views don't represent the majority of Canadians. Keep in mind that Trudeau's childish comments come from those both in the United States and Canada that still heavily suffer from the "Only Clinton-Can-Win Syndrome".

I have been reading Professor Donald DeMarco's practical and inspiring book, How to Flourish in a Fallen World. The author is well aware that the traditional Christian family in the West is under attack. He urges his readers to choose to live the truth and pursue a culture of love, faith and life.

See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity; I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
