The Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) has decided that they, the staff and the students that attend and work in Catholic schools should not recite the St. Michael's Prayer. One trustee said that even the discussion about the motion to do so was a waste of time because they have more important things to do and talk about. Another trustee made the comment that the school board should not be scaring the children with a prayer that has the word "evil" in it. These are the same trustees that had no problem voting to include in board code of conduct the terms gender identity, gender expression and discuss it at length. But they have little time and patience for Catholic doctrine and the protection of children.

The Archdiocese of Toronto launched, some months ago, a much needed initiative called "Parish Action: Educate, Engage, Advocate." We hope the faithful respond in great numbers, as well as complete the questionnaire. In our post-modern secularist, materialistic and relativistic times, these spiritual action parish groups are so badly needed to defend the faith, education and family. Here's how the project is described:

WHAT: We all want to make our community and our country a better place.

By now, the world has heard of Canada's Professor Jordan Peterson. He's a clinical psychologist and has taught at the universities of McGill and Harvard. Since 1998, he has been in the psychology department at the University of Toronto.

His first book called, Maps and Meaning: The Architecture of Belief is an attempt to understand and explain beliefs and myths. It's an examination of how stories govern emotion and meaning in people's lives.

Toronto Catholic District School Board trustee Michael Del Grande has come under attack from the MSM, the mayor and even the minister of education for standing his ground against gender identity being added to the board's code of conduct. His eight trustee colleagues have also criticized him for comments about rejecting gender identity.

Recently, I got an email from a person who is afraid of revealing their name. The have thrity years of teaching experience with the Catholic board. The email is about the TCDSB trustees controversial and anti-Catholic vote to include gender identity in the code of conduct. We share the message with our readers:

Let’s talk about how this gender stuff will look like on the ground...that is in the classroom...Johnny comes in dressed as a girl...the teacher has to say to the kids sitting around...

Just one day after Christmas Day, we celebrate the martyrdom of St. Stephen. The Holy Innocents and the Apostles were also martyred. Holiness that leads to sainthood is the eternal fruit of the coming of Baby Jesus. Sadly, Christians are once again facing the hostile world of persecution and death that the Church confronted in its first four centuries. In response, we post the story about the life Sr. Carmelina Tarantino.

The Gospel according to John 1:1-18:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be. What came to be through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race; the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

A man named John was sent from God.

This Christmas we share with our readers a Letter to Baby Jesus by Fr. Livio Fanzaga. He's a priest of the Congregation of the Scolopian Fathers. He's also the director of the World Radio Maria Family. Here is Fr. Livio's Letter.

This is the speech we gave at the Toronto Catholic District School tonight. Trustee Michael Del Grande has been attacked for voting against the inclusion of gender identity in the board's code of conduct. He should be applauded but not in today's culture of identity politics. A special meeting was called to deal with the issue.

Today we post the traditional Latin Mass prayers the "O Antiphons" (the first letter in each is "O") for the week before Christmas, from Dec. 17-23. They are also recited for evening prayers (Vespers) and for the Liturgy of the Hours. After Vatican II, some minor changes have been made. The prayers are all about the coming of the Messiah, the Saviour and Redeemer the world. Each Antiphon comes from the Bible and is a prayer of the faithful.

See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity; I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
