We attended the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) meeting last Tuesday night. Most of the speakers that addressed the trustees, were against the idea of adding gender identity to the Board's Code of Conduct. There was just one speaker in favour: the teacher who is pushing for this politically correct change.

The Board's Student Achievement committee is currently considering adding  “gender identity,” “gender expression,” “marital status,” and “family status” to its Code of Conduct. Once this "inclusive" language is inserted into policy, it will impossible to defend Catholic teaching. And that's the goal. It has nothing to do with bullying and creating safe schools. We have the Bible, the Catechism and the Ten Commandments to create the safest and best schools.

We just received the latest newsletter from the charity Canadian Food for Children. Encouraged by St. Mother Teresa CFFC continues its efforts to help the poor. The organization founded by Dr. Andrew Simone and his wife ships from the Toronto warehouse on Lakeshore Blvd. over 300 metal containers with food and other material goods each year. To put that in some perspective it's 5,000,000 kilos of goods sent to help neighbours in need all over the world. Dr.

Do you remember the nasty criticism directed at Pope Benedict XVI after he delivered the Regensburg Address in 2006? His speech is a profound reflection on faith, God and reason.

Today is Memorial Day in the United States. The holiday officially started in 1967. It's a day to pay tribute and remember those who died in the American Civil War. However, in more recent times there is a recognition of all Americans who have made sacrifices and those that have lost their lives while serving in the military.

One great speech for this occasion was given by President Calvin Coolidge called, "The Destiny of America," in 1923.

The Toronto District Catholic School Board (TDCSB) is considering adding to their Code of Conduct the expressions, “gender identity,” “gender expression,” “marital status,” and “family status” as prohibited grounds of discrimination. The Code applies to students, staff and administrators.

The push to have the trustees change the Code of Conduct is coming from a teacher. The reason: the TDCSB Code of Conduct needs to be updated to provincial standards.

Readers must watch this great interview of Professor Jordan Peterson with Dennis Prager of PragerU. It's more of a conversation with long pauses than an interview, but filled with practical and sound reflections about living  a meaningful life. Prager is an American writer and host of a radio talk show. He's a social conservative and the founder of PragerU. The organization produces videos that cover political, religious, economic and philosophical topics from a conservative perspective.

As far back back as the year 345, St. John Chrysostom invoked the Blessed Virgin Mary as Mary Help of Christians. St. John Bosco used the same title. Asking for Mary's intercession is one of the oldest prayers in Church history. In 1808, Pope Pius VII instituted her liturgical feast day which falls on May 24.

During the Middle Ages, the title was used to ask for the protection of Europe from those who were not Christian.

The Egard Watch Company just released a great witness to life and fatherhood video called "A letter to my son." We got this surprise email message from the company and share with our readers:

This is Ilan the CEO of Egard. I am going to keep this super short. I very much wanted to share our newest short film celebrating fathers. My father and I have a special bond and I wanted to honor it by making this video. If you have the time please watch and most importantly share it. It means a lot.

In Canada, our schools have implemented radical sex-curriculum programs that are abusive and dangerous to children's safety and health. But in many parts of the world school children don't get enough to eat even when they go to school. Without food, it's difficult to attend school and learn.

We just received the latest newsletter from Chalice Canada.

Since 1969 when abortion was first legally introduced, Canada has legislatively over the years strengthened and expanded the culture of death. The Ontario appeal court ruling that denies doctors the right and freedom to opt out of physician-assisted suicide and euthanasia is the most recent example. Doctors and other health care professionals are legally forced to accept the culture of death. The court decision makes no room for any other right, nor the freedom of religion.

See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity; I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
