Today's Christian witness in the face of torture and death

Today many Christians continue to face persecution and even death for their faith. Twenty-six year old Kayla Mueller is one who suffered pesecution and death. The American military operation that killed the terrorist and murderer Isis leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was named after her. Mueller was doing humanitarian work at a hospital run by Doctors Without Boders when she was kidnapped by Isis. She was imprisoned, tortured, sexually abused and was killed.

Here's the letter that Mueller sent her family and was shared with the media. It's a courageous Christian testament to God, faith, suffering and family. The world is a better place because of people like Kayla. It's the great and mysterious gift of life from God to all of us.

These literacy skills can only be learned by doing. And yet in our schools much of the time in the classrooms is spent giving students models of good writing hoping that it will rub off. It usually doesn't.

PM Justin Trudeau sends troubling censorship message days after re-election

Just days after PM Justin Trudeau's Liberals were re-elected with a minority government, the message to Canadians is that they intend to control which media are permitted to cover future election debates, as well select the journalists. This is a troubling and dangerous start for a government that doesn't even have a majority. Canadians should be very concerned.

Canada's restricted "diversity"

Canada's re-elected PM Justin Trudeau said in 2017 that, "A Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian, and the diversity of our country is actually one of our greatest strengths and a source of tremendous resilience and pride for Canadians and we will continue to defend that.” Diversity is Canada's strength but only if Canadians agree with political correctness and the "diversity" of progressive thinking.

Blackface jack-o'-lanterns can't be sold in America, but PM Trudeau can lead Canada

In Nyack, New York jack-o'-lanterns decked out in black paint with white mouths can no longer be sold. People complained to Bed Bath and Beyond that was selling the item for Halloween. The company has taken them off the shelves.

Bed Bath and Beyond has apologized for selling the jack-o'-lanterns and said that there was no intention to offend anyone. The pumpkins have been removed from all stores.

Great idea: get rid of distracting cellphones in school

A Catholic school with Grades from 7-12 in Anchorage, Alaska is another school to join the ban on the student cellphone use. This is an effort to do away with the distractions and the addiction to smart phones.

The policy was introduced at Lumen Christi High School this current school year and so far the majority of students seem to accept the decision as a good idea.

The change has made it easier for students to concentrate on learning and pay greater attention to other students.

Canadians re-elect pro-death Liberal PM Justin Trudeau

Canadians sadly have re-elected the pro-death Liberal PM Justin Trudeau. This is a man who leads a party that pushes unrestricted abortion both at home and abroad, suppots euthanasia and has passed legislation to legalize marijuana. Billions of dollars will be spent on foreign aid to promote and pay for abortion and contraception in other counties. And 100,000 unborn babies will continue to be killed using tax payer money and deceptively called heath care. This is progressivism Canadian style.

Sr. Carmelina Tarantino: officially her road to sainthood has begun

Yesterday the Holy Mass was celebrated by His Eminence Thomas Cardinal Collins, Archbishop of Toronto, St. Leo’s Church, Mimico, Ontario to mark the the Closure of the Diocesan Phase for the Canonization process of the Servant of God Sr. Carmelina Tarantino of the Cross. God willing she will be Toronto's first saint. Archbishop Collins in his homily stressed the point that faith which we cannot see, and is a gift from God, becomes visible and real in holy and virtuous people like Sr. Carmelina.
