The declining state of Ontario Catholic Education in 2020
The present state of Catholic education in Ontario now uses the generic and vague term "Catholic lens" as a standard of success. Can Catholic schools be both secular and faith based? So, it's worth revisiting, the 1999 well thought out statement by author and educator Fr. James Mulligan on Catholic education titled, "Distinctly Catholic: An Assessment of a Great Work in Progress." The article is 21 years old, but is perhaps even more relevant today. In this post, we share Fr. Mulligan's assessment of Catholic education, his solutions for the future and our response. Here's his introduction:
