Canadians face more government censorship and civil rights restrictions

PM Justin Trudeau's Liberal government has put orders in place and proposed legislation so that Canadians face more government censorship and civil rights restrictions. We already have the sad story of a woman married to a pastor who was detained in Calgary, Alberta. She flew from the United Sates to Canada. The health authorities demanded that she go to an isolation centre for quarantine or be arrested. The virus test she got in Dallas wasn't good enough. The government is using Covid-19 to violate civil rights with these drastic measures without any consultation or approval by Parliament. Something is terribly wrong with "The True North strong and free." Canada is still a democracy and the citizenry has rights to freedom of expression, of religion and of assembly.

Up to what point are we faithful Catholics?

A recent article by Ferdinando Camon in the Italian publication Avvenire raises once more a profound question of faith and Christian morality for us today. Here's the title (our translation): "The confession: the exterminator of Auschwitz cried and was absolved." The point: How is it even conceivable that a mass murderer had a chance to be absolved? Let's first consider some of horrible background details.

He sets out to explain in much detail the reasons for the drastic erosion in America's culture. We can add western culture. Canadians and most countries around the globe are facing a pandemic. We have a stay-at-home order in Ontario. Schools are closed and much of the Canadian economy is shutdown. People are suffering. Students are trying to cope with the difficulties of all-day on-line learning. This is causing much anxiety and even depression. And what's a priority for Canada's Liberal government? Helping vulnerable citizens? Working to return to some level of normalcy? Making sure that vaccines are safe? No.

How many "genders" are there? It's the wrong question.

Do you know that in Ontario children are now taught that there are six genders. Facebook in America claims that there are 56 genders, but in the United Kingdom that number goes to 71. Don't ask why. Currently, a tax-funded British Broadcasting Corporation program is facing global criticism and ridicule over teaching children that there are over 100 genders. Yes, 100. This dangerous lie is being peddled to primary school kids aged 9 through 12.

Students safety? No, these aren't the important issues of the day.

Joe Biden with an executive order has destroyed women's sports

President Joe Biden in his first day in office issued an executive order titled, "Preventing and Combating Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity or Sexual Orientation." The misguided order will destroy women's sports. However, the wording of the document that directly say that to Americans. The focus is on masking the truth with some difficult legal language and nice sounding words introducing the order. People must all be treated with dignity and respect. We must not live in fear.

Schools are closed but TCDSB makes it a priority for more gay resources

We have a pandemic. Much of the economy is shutdown and schools are closed. Ontario has issued a stay-at-home order and declared a second state of emergency. And what is a primary concern of Toronto Catholic District School Board? The pandemic? How all-day on-line learning is negatively impacting children's learning? Student depression and other mental health problems? No, none of these issues.
