Corriere Canadese's publisher Joe Vople has posted another great editorial making the case for Catholics to govern their own schools, without interference from activists and government progressive policies. The column is titled, "Constitutional challenges galore, Rocco Galati where are you?" We post the editorial with permission:

A new religion - the sexualization of civic and human rights and obligations - appears to be clouding people’s judgement everywhere, eroding the concept of moderation and suffocating freedoms of thought and expression which are at the heart of democratic structures and contractual institutions.

Why is PM Justin Trudeau using the residential schools issue to openly attack the Catholic Church? Why add fuel to the fire? We have already seen Catholic Churches desecrated, violated and even burned to the ground. And yet, blackface Trudeau virtue signal by asking for the release of records held by the Church. There is enough hate and bigotry against Catholics in Canada, some of it coming directly from polices and laws passed by the Liberal government.

Most of us have heard many times last Sunday's Gospel reading, which comes from St. Mark: 4:35-41, as Jesus calms the water and saves the apostles from harm. What we didn't expect was the powerfully truthful homily from Fr. Dominic Clovis at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church, in Toronto. First, the Bible passage:

On that day, as evening drew on, Jesus said to his disciples:

“Let us cross to the other side.”

Leaving the crowd, they took Jesus with them in the boat just as he was.

Canada's Liberal government early this year passed legislation to ban all "therapies" that seek to change people's sexual orientation. It was viewed as a huge win for the LGBTQ+ community.

On June 24, Quebec marks Saint Jean Baptiste Day. It's a traditional celebration of the the Feast Day of the birth of St. John the Baptist. John the Baptist was the one who baptized Jesus and prepared the way for the coming of the redeemer. The celebration in Quebec goes back to 1606. It was brought to Canada by the French settlers and declared a public holiday in 1925. When Quebec in 1908 celebrated the tercentenary of its founding, Pope Pius X proclaimed St.

It could be a Black Lives Matter or Joe Biden's Build Back Better slogan that has now reached Ontario schools Boards. The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) uses these words, "Learn, Disrupt, Rebuild" to push equity and race "education" under the topic of "Building a Community of Care." It all sounds very positive. It's not.

Crisis Magazine posted today a much needed true story called, "A Father’s Day Story" by Kevin Wells. We need good earthly fathers, but even more so spiritual fathers. Fr. Aloysius Schwartz' missionary work in South Korea after World War II is a great example of the meaning of true fatherhood, both for the family and the Church. The humble man didn't want us to know his story, but when so many fathers are absent, we need to know his sacrificial example of faith, courage and fatherhood.

What recently came out of a meeting from the Irish Parliament's (Oireachtas) Joint Committee on Education, should be of serious concern to school board administrators, trustees, parents and teachers. Minister Stephen Lecce, please pay attention. James O'Higgins Norman, a sociology professor, stated in his address that most bullying is based on the issue of identity. Norman holds the UNESCO Chair on Tackling Bullying in Schools and Cyberspace at Dublin City University (DCU).

Ontario's Minister of Education Sephen Lecce together with the Ontario Human Rights Commission have made their goal to attack separate schools in the province.

The message is clear: fly the rainbow flag and celebrate pride month in June or risk being labelled intolerant, bigoted and homophobic. A religious "safe space" which promotes the love of God and charity towards one's neighbour is no longer woke and progressive enough.

The first casualty from Covid-19 has been science and truth. Member of Parliament (MP) Derek Sloan held a press conference today to talk about the censorship that has resulted in Canada, and the rest of the free world, around Covid-19, vaccines, lock-downs and alternative treatments. Sloan was joined by Dr. Byram W. Bridle, a viro-immunologist from the University of Guelph, Dr. Patrick Philips from Englehart Hospital, and Dr. Don Welsh from the University of Western Ontario.

See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity; I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
