The Canadian short documentary that debunks Sugarcane should get an Oscar
Canadian writer and researcher Michelle Stirling has produced an important documentary, The Bitter Roots of "Sugarcane:" How a Shock-u-mentary Blood Libels the Catholic Church and Canadian History. This is the film that should get an Oscar for debunking the story the so called documentary Sugarcane tells.
Sugarcane has received great reviews from film critics, has won the Sundance Film Festival and other awards. It's distributed by National Geographic and recently nominated for an Oscar. But according to Stirling, Sugarcane doesn't tell the truth about Canada's residential schools and the role of Catholic Church. It distorts fiction and fact to spin a politically correct and profitable myth.
